Belarus to host UEFA U-17 Euro-2011 qualifying round

MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – Minsk, Zhodino and Molodechno are set to host a qualifying round of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in late September 2010, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Football Federation. Belarus have been drawn in to the sixth qualifying group. The Belarusian U-17 team will face Lichtenstein (in Zhodino on 21 September), Kazakhstan (also in Zhodino on 23 September), and Romania (in Minsk on 26 September). 

Order of Mother conferred on 55 women with many children

MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – 55 women have been awarded the Order of Mother for giving birth and bringing up five or more children. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed relevant Decree No 461 on 3 September, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service. The Order of Mother awardees included Svetlana Vishnevskaya, teacher of Beloozersk secondary school No 1 of Bereza District, Natalia Kozak, housewife from the village of Olshany, Stolin District, Lyudmila Kravchuk, postwoman of the Pruzhany District post office, Bogdana Misiyuk, record keeper of the Zhabinka District central hospital, Marina Shipulya, teacher of the Pyatigorsk secondary school, Beshenkovichi District, Tatiana Semkina, seamstress of the Mogilev Artware Factory, others.

Gomel to host economic conference 10 September

GOMEL, 20 August (BelTA) – The First Gomel Economic Conference will be held on 10 September, BelTA learned from the ideology department of the Gomel City Council. The main goal of the conference is to develop partnership and increase foreign investments in the economy of the city. More than 20 official delegations from the Gomel twin-towns from neighboring and other countries, businessmen who implement investment projects in Gomel, potential investors have been invited to take part in the conference. 

Gomel exhibition to display traditions and culture of Japan

GOMEL, 11 August (BelTA) – The exhibition Traditions and Culture of Japan will open at Grigory Vashchenko’s Picture Gallery in Gomel on 11 August, BelTA learnt from gallery funds chief curator Oleg Kurashov. Exhibits have been provided by the Embassy of Japan in Belarus. The collection will feature the major traditions and everyday life of the Japanese. In particular, the visitors will be able to get familiar with tea ceremony sets, Japanese traditional cuisine.
